CONSULTING SERVICES
Ms. Miller has extensive background and experience in assisting
facilities with all aspects of obtaining and maintaining
excellence in mammography. She can provide assistance with
ACR accreditation and compliance issues should your facility
require onsite positioning or other training per ACR recommendation.
Louise specializes in positioning and patient care issues,
including, but not limited to, film quality, screening procedures,
diagnostic workups, difficult patients, patient relations
and overall program development and improvement.
ONSITE TRAINING
Positioning and clinical film analysis are the most requested
topics for onsite trainings.
These services can be provided at individual and multiple
sights. It is our experience that the training is most effective
with the combined use of lecture and hands-on formats. In
this manner all technologists will be receiving the same
information and observe the same method for positioning.
Ms. Miller has developed a unique and most effective method
for teaching and understanding positioning and their correlation
to clinical film analysis: The Breast Map. This method has
been featured in Breast Imaging – 2nd Edition by Daniel
Kopans, MD and in The Handbook of Mammography – 4th
Edition, which Ms. Miller co-authored. Louise also uses
ACR recommended methods while combining a unique proficient
and proficient method of positioning designed to decrease
repeats and increase productivity. Careful consideration
is also given to the use of proper body mechanics to facilitate
the process with the least amount of effort and resulting
fatigue often experienced by the techonologist.
The clear advantage to onsite trainings is that it provides
individual instruction with immediate feedback. Technologists
can also check their clinical images to see that, in fact,
changes made in positioning techniques, result in improved
images. During these training sessions, utilizing these
techniques, we have been able to visualize up to 3+ cm.
(and more) of breast tissue on a given image when comparing
it to previous images.
All teaching is done in an encouraging, positive and constructive
manner.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
All onsite trainings are approved for continuing education
credits by ASRT. Credits are awarded based on lecture time
(1 credit for every 50 minute lecture), positioning demonstration
(same credits as lecture) and/or hands-on positioning working
with patients (.5 credit for every 60 minutes working with
patients). These credits are awarded per ASRT policy. Certificates
will be issued for each participant based on credits earned.
Those facilities or organizations requesting full day continuing
education programs consisting solely of lectures and demonstrations
will be responsible for obtaining ASRT approval based on
the individualized program agreed on by both parties. All
necessary documents (outlines, objectives, current CV) will
be provided in a timely manner in order to facilitate this
process and receive appropriate approval by ASRT.
