Breast Health Educators has actively participated
in international volunteer efforts in several countries. We
have donated our time and expertise by providing educational
and other support services to developing countries such as
the Ukraine, China and Cuba. With many trips completed over
the past 5 years we are proud of our work in these distant
places. Our work currently is limited to an ongoing project
in Cuba, however we hope to expand our services into Costa
Rica as well as return to the Ukraine one day.
This year we have joined with our friend and colleague,
Katie Parker to apply for status as a nonprofit organization
so that we can continue and further our work. We have chosen
the name Breast Care International to represent our efforts
and subsequent work. Katie has an extensive background with
mobile mammography, owning and operating her own company
for over 10 years which provided mammography and breast
health education to underserved populations in Southern
California. Her experience and expertise will be invaluable
in helping to establish mammography services in developing
countries. We are excited about our future with BCI.
It is our intention to apply to grant monies and accept
tax deductable donations that will to help support our programs.
The funding will also help us ship equipment to these countries
as well as to assist with travel expenses for volunteer
participants. At this time we are unable to accept monetary
donations but are happy to accept donations of used, but
usable equipment and supplies. Currently we are working
with 2 wonderful, humanitarian organizations who are assisting
us in accomplishing our goals. Whitecross Medical Missions
Corp. and World Reach Inc. can accept your donations on
our behalf until we have received our non-profit status.
When appropriate, World Reach can also provide you or your
organization with a receipt for your donations that can
be used for tax purposes.
